Pond and Lake Management

Water is an essential part of almost every landscape feature.  Ponds and lakes surround structures, housing developments, and business complexes. Contaminated water creates hazards and an odorous nuisance. Ground Werks specializes in preserving the function, ecology and aesthetics of lakes and ponds.

Aquatic Algae and Weed Control

We specialize in controlling algae and aquatic weeds to restore ponds and lakes.  Overgrowth of algae and weeds have undesirable outcomes that affect the ecosystem and the appearance of our landscape.

Algae blooms are fed by runoff from septic systems and fertilizers, creating an overgrowth.  The overgrowth of algae dies and feeds bacteria in the decomposition process.  The water becomes inundated with bacteria and clouded by algae, which contaminates the water.

MECHANICAL DREDGING

Ground Werks has the mechanical power behind your aquatic projects. Sediment and debris collects at the bottom of ponds and lakes.  When contaminants are detected in lakes and ponds, dredging reduces the risk of exposure to people, fish, and wildlife, and reduces the spread of contaminants to connected bodies of water.

Environmental dredging near cities and industrial areas can become necessary to clear pollutants and protect waterways.  Septic drainage, sewer overflows, runoff and spills complicate the ecology of our waterways.  Environmental dredging can accomplish effective restoration and mitigation.  The protection and restoration of marine environments is our primary concern.

  • Your lake or pond becomes filled with muck

  • When your littoral shelf is expanding

  • Plants on the littoral shelf become difficult to manage

  • Sediment clogs culverts and irrigation systems

  • Pond or lake becomes shallow

  • The water releases an odor

  • When algae issues become excessive

  • You desire marine aquatic and wetland habitat restoration and mitigation
